Startup Options
Last Version: 2025/09/22
This guide applies to Bianbu Star v2.x images (e.g., v2.1.x) that come with GRUB pre-installed by default. v3.x images do not include GRUB by default, so these instructions do not apply to v3.x. Upon powering on, you can select different operating systems through the GRUB boot menu. v2.x images typically include the following systems:
- Bianbu Star (default system)
- Bianbu Ocean (based on Buildroot)
The system remembers your last boot selection. If no selection is made during the first boot, it will default to Bianbu Star.
How to Select the Boot System
1. Access the Boot Menu
When the Bianbu logo appears in the center of the screen during startup, press the Esc
key to enter the system selection menu.
2. Select a System
In the boot menu, select the desired operating system to start.
If no choice is made, the system will boot into Bianbu Star by default.
3. Confirm and Boot
Press the Enter
key to confirm the selection. The selected system will boot and the system will remember the choice for the next startup.
Note
- If you miss the prompt to press
Esc
, simply restart the device and try again when the logo appears.- v3.x images do not include GRUB by default and will not display the boot menu described above.
- To enable multi-boot on v3.x, you will need to manually install/enable GRUB.
- The boot process may vary slightly between different images or devices. Please refer to your specific image's documentation. To switch systems, press
Esc
during startup to access the menu and make a new selection.
